The Best Books of the Year: A Top Ten List

The Best Books of the Year: A Top Ten List

These ~best books of the year lists~ are like an instant reminder of how little reading I seemed to have done this year, and all of the great books I’ve missed. (A Little Life is laughing at me from the pile next to my bed — I SEE YOU). But it’s also a great time to look back at everything I was able to get to, which ended up being just over my goal of 50 books. That’s a lot for me, all things considered, so I’m not complaining or anything, really. It honestly feels like it was only five minutes ago that we were at the halfway mark of the year, and I was trying to pick my favorites of […]

Top Ten Tuesday: QUOTES!

Top Ten Tuesday: QUOTES!

Happy Tuesday! It’s truly been months since I’ve jumped on the Top Ten Tuesday train, but I thought it was about time I hopped back on. And since the topic is quotes, there’s really no better time. So many books blew me away with their writing this year, so it’ll be hard to pick just ten, but alas, here we go! 10. “A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner—continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you—is a fine art, in and of itself.” (Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert) 9. “I could never delete my own history, and […]

~Fall~ Into Some New Fiction

Hi guys! I’m back after what quickly turned into an almost three week break. I’m in my Senior Seminar lit class, so that’s been taking up some of my time, along with the usual Bustle and BookBub writing. I wanted to ease back in with a Top Ten Tuesday post (on a Wednesday) because when has being a day or so late ever stopped me before? There are so many books out this fall, I almost can’t keep up with them. Here are just a few I’ve got my eye on. So amid my PSL-drinking, pumpkin picking, and baking just about every recipe I find, here’s what I hope to be reading. Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling: I love Is Everyone […]

10 Favorite Fellow Book worms

10 Favorite Fellow Book worms

Happy Tuesday! If there’s one thing I never get tired of, it’s making lists, and reading books, and combining them. Today, I’m joining The Broke and the Bookish, in talking about our favorite fellow book worms. I actually just wrote a similar list over on BookBub’s Blog, but I wanted to do another one because, there are always more! Hermione Granger from Harry Potter: If she’s not on every list around today, I’ll be very surprised. She is the ultimate bookworm, always. Francie Nolan from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn: She is my favorite, forever, the end. The world was hers for the reading, after all. Seriously everyone in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society: This one takes the cake for making me want to join […]

Hitting the Halfway Mark: The 10 Best Books of the Year (So Far!)

Somewhere in between school ending and starting again, and missing all my monthly wrap ups, we ended up in June. I’ve read 33 books so far this year, but since lately I’ve been on a roll with the Top Ten Tuesdays, I thought I would jump in today and talk about some of the best books I’ve read so far this year with The Broke and the Bookish! Dare Me by Megan Abbott The Fever by Megan Abbott Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum Nobody is Ever Missing by Catherine Lacey Wild by Cheryl Strayed  The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins   What are your best books of the year so far?

10 Books I Can’t Wait to Read This Summer

10 Books I Can’t Wait to Read This Summer

I make these lists every single season, because I love making lists, and I really do have good intentions. But I know myself, and if I’m lucky I will read maybe three of these. I started my spring list pretty strong, but only made it through TWO. It’s sad. But other things grab my attention and I can’t help it. Okay, anyway, here is my best guess for what I might end up reading this season. Beach season and GO. Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari – Because how could I not love this? I’m Special by Ryan O’Connell – Ryan O’Connell was my favorite ~*Internet Person*~ before I knew there was such a thing, all the way back in 2010 and now he wrote […]
